Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson is officially out for the season, per Ian Rapoport.

"Trey Hendrickson had core muscle surgery this morning, source said," Rapoport reports. "His season is over, but he should be fully recovered in 6 or so weeks."

Rapoport reported on Monday that Hendrickson would be seeing a doctor to ponder the surgery.

"Bengals star DE Trey Hendrickson is set to visit Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia’s Vincera Institute as he weighs likely core muscle surgery," Rapoport reported. "Surgery would knock Hendrickson, battling what is called a hip injury, out for the season."

The Bengals' star did opt to have the surgery and will now be out for the season. Being that he should be fully recovered in six weeks, he could return if the Bengals make a miracle run in the AFC playoffs. However, a lot of dominoes would have to fall for that to happen.

Hendrickson has been with the Bengals since 2021, earning four consecutive Pro Bowl appearances and a First-Team All-Pro in 2024 after leading the NFL in sacks. He is set to be a free agent in 2026.
