Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is under fire this training camp, and one Chicago radio host believes that the second-year quarterback needs to show signs of progress in the preseason.

The 23-year-old grabbed the spotlight during a fast-paced throwing challenge, where he had to hit targets in a net. Williams struggled with accuracy, and his emotional reaction quickly drew everyone's attention.

On Tuesday, Lou Canellis of FOX 32 was on 670 The Score, where he decided to call out Williams ahead of the Bears' second preseason game on August 17 against the Buffalo Bills.

"Hell, yeah, there's pressure on Caleb Williams," Canellis said. "Yeah, get it right. You're supposed to be a generational quarterback. Get it right. I shouldn't be watching Tyson Bagent, all right, out of Sheppard College in his third season, handling this brand new offense more effectively... Caleb Williams, no more Snap issues. Fire out of the huddle confidently. Feel good about the play that's called."

Moreover, Canellis stated his thoughts on how much action Williams will see in these final two preseason games.

"They've thrown a lot to Caleb to learn," Canellis added. "The install is in. Peel back, see what the guy does best. Do I think he plays against Buffalo? Absolutely. Do I think if he plays poorly against Buffalo, he'll play against Kansas City? No chance. Because if you're not playing [Joe] Thuney and [Jonah] Jackson and [Drew] Dalman up front, you're not going to risk the health of No. 18."

Heading into Year 2 under new head coach Ben Johnson, Williams faces pressure to take the next step in his development. With an offensive-minded coach like Johnson, who helped Jared Goff find his footing with the Detroit Lions, there's plenty of potential for growth.

Williams and his teammates must continue working through the challenges of learning a new offense in practice and during the preseason. However, lingering issues could be costly when Week 1 arrives against the Minnesota Vikings.
