Reports are making it very clear what the Chicago Bears are looking to improve ahead of Tuesday's NFL trade deadline.
Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday afternoon that Chicago is "actively trying to acquire a pass-rusher before today’s trade deadline. At 5-3, Chicago wants to bolster a key position that’s been hit hard by injury."
The top targets still potentially available include Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals, Bradley Chubb and Matthew Judon of the Miami Dolphins and Arden Key of the Tennessee Titans.
Hendrickson and Chubb have both recorded four sacks on the season, Key has 1.5 sacks while Judon has yet to record his first of the year.
Upgrading the pass rush is certainly a logical move. The Chicago pass rush has been lacking for much of the season, as the Bears rank in the bottom 10 of the NFL in sacks. Despite that, the Bears have managed to overcome an 0-2 start and are very much a factor in the NFC postseason race. At 5-3, the Bears are only one half game behind the NFC North-leading Green Bay Packers and have the same record as the Detroit Lions, who enter Week 10 occupying the final wild card spot in the conference.
