The Chicago Bears beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Black Friday matchup. For the Bears, it kept their NFC North lead intact and also cemented them as one of the best teams in the NFC.

But for the Eagles, and especially the defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, this game proved to be a historic one for all of the wrong reasons.

As B/R Gridiron shared on Twitter/X, this rushing performance, led by D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, was the worst performance a Fangio-led defense has allowed since 2005, 20 years ago.

Bears have historic rushing day vs. Eagles' Vic Fangio

On 47 rushing attempts, the Bears ran for 281 yards. Monangai went 22 for 130 and a touchdown, Swift had 18 attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown, while Caleb Williams ran for 13 yards on five carries, DJ Moore ran for 10 yards on one attempt, and Luther Burden III added three yards on his lone carry.

This was easily the best the Bears' running game has looked all year, as Swift and Monangai combined to torch the Eagles' defense.

For Fangio, who's widely renowned as one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, this rushing performance, as B/R Gridiron mentions that is the worst rushing performance that Fangio has allowed since 2005.

That performance came when Fangio was with the Houston Texans, in a Week 6 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Fangio's Texans defense allowed 320 rushing yards against the Seahawks on October 16th, the worst day of Fangio's career.

Shaun Alexander ran for 141 yards and four touchdowns on 22 attempts, while backup RB Maurice Morris added 104 yards and one touchdown on his eight attempts.

Matt Hasselbeck added 40 yards on four attempts, while Leonard Weaver had 21 yards on five attempts, Mack Strong had 16 yards on one attempt, and Seneca Wallace had negative two yards on two attempts.

Monangai and Swift led the charge for the Bears in Week 13, torching the Eagles' run defense for a historic day for the RB duo. It was one of the more impressive performances across the NFL this season, and it is a very encouraging sign going forward.
