The Chicago Bears' offense has shown flashes of being really good, but the opposite is also true. The Bears have had moments of stalled drives, turnovers, and the inability to get the ball moving against quality defenses. Chicago is going off a bye, but they are currently 2-2.

New head coach Ben Johnson spoke to the media this week and shared his evaluation of the offense and the team as a whole.

Ben Johnson believes offense 'still a work in progress'

When speaking to the media, here is what Johnson had to say about his team:

"Offensively, we're still a work in progress," Johnson said. "Some things we're doing well, some things we're not. The inconsistent nature with which we're playing, we're shooting ourselves in the foot quite a bit. And when I look at where we were through the first four weeks, [there have been] a lot of penalties … we were playing behind the sticks, and you can certainly feel that as I was calling [plays]."

Playing behind the sticks is going to make it harder on quarterback Caleb Williams and the rest of the offense to create separation and have explosive plays. However, at 2-2, the Bears are still in a good spot. The only thing is the rest of the NFC North is loaded, and it's going to be hard to keep pace with both the Lions and Packers.

The Bears take on the Washington Commanders in a Monday night showdown this week.
