Damar Hamlin is a name that resonates beyond the Buffalo Bills.

After his horrifying on-field collapse a few years ago, the safety's return to health and eventually to the NFL became an inspirational story.

And so whenever anyone tunes in to watch the Bills, there's a curiosity about Hamlin. What's he up to? Is he making plays?

This season has been different, though. Hamlin isn't in his usual role.

Is Damar Hamlin still playing football?

Yep, Damar Hamlin is still playing football. He's still under contract in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills.

He's just not a starting safety anymore, and that's not a position that a lot of rotation from the bench.

Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop start at safety for the Bills now.

Bishop may have started last season, too, except he was hurt in the preseason as a rookie. That pressed Hamlin into duty, and although he made a lot of tackles, he didn't grade out well analytically.

This season, most of Hamlin's time is spent on the sideline.

He's still pursuing his NFL dream, and he's still making a difference off the field. He's just not between the lines as much anymore.
