'Improbable comeback' sees Bills near top of latest power rankings after Ravens win image

The Buffalo Bills' 41-40 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 is still a game we aren't sure how it ended the way it did, but Josh Allen and Co. got away with one.

The biggest issue aimed at Buffalo entering the season was the defense's ability to stop the top-tier offenses it would see in the postseason, and the Ravens obliterated them until that fourth quarter.

So yes, the win was good, but Bills Mafia would still have to be a little nervous at how easily the defense was gashed on the ground and through the air. But winning perhaps cures all.

With Week 1 in the books, NFL.com's Eric Edholm has compiled his power rankings list, and after the superb comeback against the Ravens, Allen and the Bills come in at No. 2.

"Josh Allen had to hear the MVP chants for Lamar Jackson in his own stadium," Edholm writes. "Then he got up off the mat and led three scoring drives in the final seven-plus minutes to pull off the most improbable comeback imaginable.

"This is all about the march to January and whether the Bills can solve their defensive issues before tournament time."

Josh Allen puts Superman cape on vs. Ravens

In the fourth quarter, Allen went into the phone booth and transformed from the mild-mannered Clark Kent, put on the Superman cape, and willed his team to victory.

Last season, Allen put that cape away as it wasn't needed, but it is good to know that if push comes to shove, No. 17 can still do it. Granted, there likely aren't many teams that would disintegrate mentally like Baltimore did late in the game, but Buffalo saw its opportunity and took it.

Given the playoff ramifications, Buffalo needed to get off to a good start, and while being down 40-25 late wasn't in the script, we get the sense that if the Bills are going to claim their first Super Bowl trophy, Allen will have to do the heavy lifting as he did at Highmark Stadium.

Is Superman returning to the AFC East?
