The Arizona Cardinals are not having a good time right now.

After starting out 2-0, with wins over the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers, the Cardinals have lost four games in a row. The latest loss came on Sunday as the Cardinals fell 31-27 to the Indianapolis Colts. The team is now 0-2 against the AFC South and in last place in the NFC West.

On Sunday, starting quarterback Kyler Murray notably did not play. The quarterback injured his foot against the Titans, and veteran journeyman Jacoby Brissett received the start in his place.

The offense actually performed well even without Murray. Brissett threw for 320 yards, which is exactly 100 yards more than Murray has had in any game this season. Brissett completed 27 of his 44 passes with two touchdowns and one interception in the game.

With Brissett at the helm, the Cardinals also tied their season-high with 27 points. Unfortunately, the defense was unable to do enough to help Brissett, as the unit allowed 31 points and 355 total yards.

After Brissett's solid performance, and Murray's lackluster passing production this year, many may have wondered if Brissett would remain the starter. After the game, head coach Jonathan Gannon was asked this very question.

According to Cardinals insider Theo Mackie, Gannon "made it very clear" that Murray is still the team's starting quarterback.

This isn't exactly a surprising response. After all, Murray has earned two Pro Bowl selections in his career and has thrown for over 20,000 yards in his career. Not even 30 years old yet, Murray is already third in franchise history in career passing yards with the Cardinals.

So far in 2025, Murray has thrown for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions. The quarterback also has 173 rushing yards, which leads the team.

However, it is worth noting that Murray has not played close to his peak lately. The quarterback has not thrown for 300+ yards since Week 17 of the 2024 season. The quarterback is also 4-6 over his last 10 starts, and it's hard to argue that the Cardinals haven't regressed.

If Murray is healthy enough to return for Week 7, he will have a tough test. The Cardinals are returning home to take on the Green Bay Packers, who look like one of the NFC's top contenders so far this season.

If Murray can't go, though, Brissett proved in Week 6 that he is more than capable of leading the offense.
