The Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals both have a problem with their rushing attacks.
For the Cardinals, theirs is injury-related, as James Conner was lost for the season with an ankle injury and Trey Benson is on injured reserve due to a knee issue, leaving the team with Michael Carter, Bam Knight and Emari Demercado.
In Kansas City, the Chiefs have more of an offensive line problem than a running back issue, as the group upfront ranks 30th in run-block win rate. Through five contests, Patrick Mahomes is the team's leading rusher.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox wants to see both teams upgrade their running back position by trading for New York Jets rusher Breece Hall.
Knox adds that Hall could fetch a conditional 2026 third-round pick.
Hall, 24, has two seasons with 1,300-plus scrimmage yards on his resume and should draw a sizeable trade package.
Virtually any playoff hopeful with a need for running back depth should be interested in Hall, even if the Jets are inclined to stick with a high price tag.
Potential Suitors: Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs
Hall is in the final year of his contract and is unlikely to be in the Jets' long-term plans. New York has a lot of issues and the last thing the team should be doing is signing a running back to a significant contract. The Jets need to trade Hall this season before he walks in 2026 for nothing.
Despite being on a bad team, Hall is off to a strong start this season, with 501 yards from scrimmage, including 351 on the ground. When at his best, Hall is one of the most electric backs in the NFL with his big-play ability and he can be a true difference-maker in the passing game, also.
The Cardinals are much more likely to make a trade for Hall than the Chiefs given the fact that Kansas City's issues are more offensive line-related than running back-related.
Adding Hall isn't going to fix that issue, although we do believe he'd be an upgrade over both Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, so it's not crazy to think general manager Brett Veach would spring to trade for him.
Arizona is a different story. The Cardinals need a spark on offense and Hall can provide that while also being a massive upgrade over Arizona's healthy backs.
Then, having a dynamic duo of Hall and Benson once the latter returns from injury will most certainly make Kyler Murray's life easier if Arizona commits to the run more, something they'd be able to do with Hall and Benson.
It would be fun to watch Hall in the Chiefs' offense, so we'd rather see him go there. But Arizona feels like the more likely landing spot if Hall is traded.
