Texas heads into its bye week feeling good about itself, coming off three lopsided victories. The Longhorns' only loss was a 14-7 defensive fight with reigning-champion and top-seeded Ohio State.
The 10th-ranked Longhorns, led by quarterback and Manning heir apparent Arch Manning, have outscored their opponents 120-17 since that loss to the Buckeyes. Now they have a bye week before their toughest stretch of the season.
UT's next game will come on Oct. 4 against Florida in Gainesville. After that, it will face seventh-ranked Oklahoma at home and then travel to Kentucky and Mississippi State. Then the Horns will play ranked teams in three out of their four games in November.
Needless to say, the next eight games will dictate whether Texas is a true National Championship contender or a pretender. So, this bye week will be crucial to get the Horns ready to continue hookin' the rest of their opponents.
