The game felt more or less like it was over before it even started.
But there was one bit of suspense riding on Penn State's season-opening college football clash against Nevada. Would the Nittany Lions put up a score never before seen at this level?
The answer: Yes.
Every little quirk had to happen along the way in a 46-11 PSU victory over the Wolfpack. And that score, according to CFB Home, has never happened before at the Division I level.
It's a scorigami, a first of its kind score line that may never happen again.
The exclamation point to secure the scorigami was a late Nevada touchdown in which not only the Wolfpack scored but then also went for 2 and converted to get them to the unusual 11 total.
Penn State's score went into the realm of the unusual when the Nittany Lions ran a weird trick play after scoring a touchdown to go up 36-3. The 2-point attempt was stifled, meaning that a field goal and then a TD to end it for Penn State put them at 46, a weirder number than either 47 or 48 that would've come with either an extra point or a successful 2-point try.
The Nittany Lions surely don't care much that there'd never been a 46-11 game in college football history. They just wanted to take care of business, win and then move on to bigger things.
But it's a fun little footnote at the start of a highly hyped season for Penn State. They started in unique fashion. Maybe they can finish like that, too.
