Penn State will have a familiar face on the sidelines for their home opener against Nevada on Saturday. The Nittany Lions will welcome Adrian Amos back to Happy Valley and he'll be honored as an honorary caption.
Head coach James Franklin announced the exciting news on social media on Friday morning.
The former Penn State safety spent all four years of college with the Nittany Lions, earning a starting role his sophomore year.
Adrian Amos returns to Happy Valley
Amos played in 48 games throughout his four years at Penn State. The Nittany Lions' safety accumulated 149 tackles, 16 passes defended and seven interceptions in his career.
Amos also collected 10 tackles for loss and three sacks. The Penn State safety was a leader on defense throughout his college career and led the Nittany Lions to a 31-30 overtime win in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College in his senior year.
The Penn State product was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, and spent the first four years of his career in Chicago. Amos collected 274 tackles, 18 passes defended and three interceptions with the Bears.

The Bears' defender also had 13 TFLs, two sacks, and three forced fumbles and fumble recoveries during his four years.
Amos then signed with the Green Bay Packers and spent four years in green and gold. The Penn State safety played even better with the Packers, collecting 364 tackles, 30 passes defended and 7 interceptions. Amos also had 15 TFLs, seven quarterback hits, four sacks and a fumble recovery in Green Bay.
Since 2022, Amos has spent time with the New York Jets, Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers. Amos had an impressive four years at Penn State, becoming a household a name. Then, he carved out a 10-year NFL career.
Now, the former Nittany Lion will return to Happy Valley on Saturday as an honorary captain for Penn State's season opener. A game that opens a season with national championship aspirations for Penn State.
