When the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons' relationship deteriorated past the point of no return, and Jerry Jones was finally ready to part ways with their former Penn State standout, it was clear that the Cowboys would've preferred to send Parsons to the AFC.

Reasonably, they wanted to avoid having to play their former first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft as often as possible, which ended up not being the case as the Green Bay Packers provided the best return for Dallas, and the rest is history.

However, Jones recently revealed on a radio show that he had called one AFC team to see if they would be willing to part with their premier assets to acquire the two-time All-Pro, but to no avail.

Jerry Jones Revealed He Called the Jets Regarding a Micah Parsons Trade

During an interview with ESPN New York radio host Gary Myers, Jones told Myers that he had called the New York Jets to see if they would be interested in acquiring the former Nittany Lion.

"A prerequisite to the entire trade was that we had to have right now a really, frankly significant dominant inside defensive player. That was a prerequisite." Jones revealed. "You didn't get in the mentality of my trading if you didn't have that coming through the door."

While the Jets are certainly in need of talented players, they told Jones they "didn't have the resources to entertain conversations."

The Cowboys were supposedly looking for Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, arguably New York's best player, along with significant draft capital to acquire the former Penn State star.

The Jets made the right move, not entertaining trade talks any further, as they are not in a position to be giving up premier talent and draft picks to better their roster right now. They are in the first year of a new regime, with head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey running the show.

While Parsons certainly would've made them a better team, it wouldn't have gotten them any closer to their goal of building a long-term winning program.
