Lane Kiffin's son drops major hint about father's plans amid coaching rumors image

Lane Kiffin isn't worried about his future. While it's easy to say and write it down on paper, why would he be? The Ole Miss Rebels coach is one of the hottest name during this coaching cycle.

Despite keep his future plans close to the vest, Lane's son, Knox, may have given the clearest hint yet about his father’s coaching future.

As speculation swirls linking him to open jobs at Florida and LSU, the younger Kiffin suggests his dad isn’t entertaining any of it. Well, at least not yet.

“It’s definitely a little bit annoying, but I understand, they want to know,” Knox told Rivals. “I don’t know anything about it, and I don’t think he’s really worried about anything. He’s just trying to go to the playoffs.”

One of the biggest details came with him adding, “I don’t think he’s worried about any of that until after the season.”

If we're able to read the room, it appears Kiffin is going to weigh his options and make a sound decision. Either make a jump within the SEC or stay put and become more entrenched in Oxford.

The Rebels are 9-1 and ranked No. 7 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, keeping them firmly in contention despite an eight-point loss at Georgia. The only loss might be water under the bridge in a few weeks.

Kiffin, who's in his fifth season at Ole Miss, has built one of the SEC’s most dynamic offenses behind former Division II quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy. The duo is a major reason why Ole Miss is at this point.

One of the motivational factors for Kiffin will be today’s landscape with NIL strength over facilities. Anyone can show off updates on campus, but can they retain talent or pay coaches, including assistants?

If Knox is right, the veteran coach won’t be making any decisions until Ole Miss’ playoff pursuit reaches its conclusion. Buckle up, because it might be a bumpy ride.
