Tiger Stadium is one of the toughest places to play in college football, and for LSU's first SEC matchup of 2025, the Tigers are going all out.
For Saturday night’s showdown in Death Valley, LSU will host a "gold-out," with the team wearing its gold uniforms and fans encouraged to do the same. The Tigers will face Florida, coming off an upset loss to USF.
Before LSU welcomes the Gators, let’s take a closer look at why the team is going gold.
What are the LSU's "gold-game" uniforms?
The Tigers debuted their new gold uniforms in November 2024 in a matchup against Vanderbilt, wearing gold for the first time since 2016. LSU is a team that opts to wear white at home the majority of the time, but Saturday against Florida, the uniforms are making a return.

Why is LSU wearing gold uniforms?
LSU is opting to wear its gold uniforms in a primetime matchup in Death Valley. Between that and asking the fans to wear gold, the Tigers are trying to set up a unique and hostile environment on Saturday night.

Fans are asked to fill the stadium wearing gold, creating a sea of color under the bright lights of Tiger Stadium. The visual spectacle, combined with the notoriously deafening crowd noise, is designed to disorient and intimidate the opposing team.
This "Gold Game" is highly anticipated, marking the start of SEC play against rival Florida. The Tigers, off 2-0 wins over No. 4 Clemson and Louisiana Tech, are looking to build on their early-season momentum. Every element—from the uniforms to the fans—will aim to rattle the Gators and extend LSU’s strong home record.
Florida hasn’t won in Death Valley since November 2016.
Has LSU ever worn the gold uniforms before?
Though sparingly, LSU has worn gold uniforms before, including in 2024 against Vanderbilt at Tiger Stadium.
