Every week, ESPN's "College GameDay" heads to one of college football's biggest matchups.

For Week 6, the crew consisting of Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit is heading to an SEC showdown.

Where will 'College GameDay' be for Week 3?

  • Location: Tuscaloosa, Ala.
  • Time: 9 a.m. ET
  • Matchup: No. 15 Vanderbilt vs. No. 10 Alabama

The GameDay crew is headed to Tuscaloosa this week for a huge SEC matchup between the undefeated Vanderbilt Commodores and the Alabama Crimson Tide. This game is a highly anticipated rematch from last season.

Vanderbilt upset Alabama 40-35 in Nashville last season. The Commodores are 10.5-point underdogs entering this one, despite being undefeated for the first time since 2008. But Alabama is at home and coming off a huge road victory over the Georgia Bulldogs.

Saturday's matchup should feature an intriguing quarterback battle. Vanderbilt is led by sixth-year quarterback Diego Pavia, while Alabama's Ty Simpson has been playing well under center so far.

It's been quite a while since Vanderbilt last defeated the Tide at home. That last victory came in 1984, when the Commodores won 30-21.

Upcoming 'College GameDay' schedule on ESPN

Instead of releasing set locations for the show at the beginning of the season, the show typically released its location on Sunday before the Saturday game. Given how things change with certain teams and matchups week by week, the show tries to pick one of the bigger matchups based on results from the previous weekend.

The show likely would have chosen to go to Florida State's home game against Miami this week, but that matchup lost its luster after the Noles lost on the road to Virginia.

Who is the guest picker on 'College GameDay' for Week 6?

This week's guest picker is podcast host and comedian Theo Von.

Von has a connection to Vanderbilt and Pavia as well—he went viral last month for making a viral bet with the Commodores' quarterback for a date with Pavia's mother, Antoinette. 

Von has been a guest picker on the show before, having been the show's guest for the 2023 SEC Championship between Alabama and Georgia.
