NC State was rolling through the first three weeks of the college football season. It had a 3-0 record, defeating East Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.
The collapse came in Week 4 as the Wolfpack faced off against Duke on the road. The Blue Devils won, 45-33, and the Wolfpack lost the following week, 23-21, to Virginia Tech.
What once was a promising season is now underwhelming, as NC State is 1-2 in ACC play and 3-2 overall. This week's matchup is a fairly low stakes game against Campbell.
Campbell is 1-4, but even its win wasn't convincing. The Fighting Camels won, 50-48, in double overtime against Bryant. The defense is a major concern with teams scoring 31, 56, 28, 48 and 42 in the five games against Campbell.
It should be an easy non-conference game for NC State, but a loss here would be a drastic hit to the Wolfpack's resume.
