FCS fans will be in for a solid CAA competition this weekend, when William & Mary hosts Maine on Saturday evening.
Both these teams started the season 0-1, with Maine falling 28-7 to Liberty and William & Mary losing a 23-21 heartbreaker to Furman. Both the Black Bears and the Tribe showed plenty of promise in their respective season-opening campaigns, though.
For Maine, the most exciting part of Week 1 was junior running back Sincere Baines' 77-yard breakaway touchdown. The Black Bears will look for a stronger push from grad student and starting QB Carter Peavy and fifth-year wideout Scott Woods.
William & Mary, meanwhile, enjoyed a solid season-opening performance from junior QB Tyler Hughes. The Georgia native had 208 passing yards and 57 rushing yards to guide the Tribe, with a little help from running back Rashad Raymond and wide receiver Sean McElwain.
