Notre Dame began the season as the No. 6 team in the country. It took quite a tumble down to No. 24 in Week 4, becoming the first 0-2 ranked team in nearly four decades.
It hasn't been a pretty season, but the Fighting Irish have regained some ground. They won the next two games, defeating Purdue and Arkansas while scoring 56 in both games.
Notre Dame can make a serious push for relevancy again with a winning streak. It begins a three-game home stretch on Saturday, Oct. 4, against Boise State. This matchup is important as Notre Dame attempts to avoid dropping below .500 again.
Boise State has had its own issues this season. The team entered as the No. 25 team in the country but lost its season opener against South Florida, which was unranked at the time.
The Broncos fell out of the Top 25 and haven't made it back in. This year was always going to be tough for them as they lost Ashton Jeanty to the NFL Draft.
Nonetheless, the Broncos are 3-1 since their loss to South Florida. They haven't received votes to return to the Top 25, though.
