Rice-Eccles Stadium will be buzzing on Saturday as Utah gears up for its home opener against Cal Poly, bringing with it an offense that looks far sharper than last fall’s edition.

Ranked No. 25 in the nation, the Utes (1-0) opened the season by steamrolling UCLA 43-10 at the Rose Bowl, a throwback to the Utah squads that captured consecutive Pac-12 titles earlier in the decade.

New Mexico transfer Devon Dampier wasted no time winning over the fan base in his debut. He completed 21 of 25 passes for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also burning UCLA on the ground with 87 rushing yards and a two-yard score.

With Dampier pulling the strings, Utah piled up 492 yards of offense, including a bruising 286 on the ground. The Utes turned third downs into firsts on 14 of 16 tries, hit pay dirt on all six red-zone trips, and churned out 6.2 yards per snap.

Meanwhile, FCS foe Cal Poly (1-0) faces an uphill climb on both sides of the ball. The Mustangs took care of business in their opener, rolling past San Diego 41-17 with 469 total yards. Quarterback Ty Dieffenbach, a Pittsburgh transfer, showed plenty of poise in his first start, tossing for 263 yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-27 passing.

Still, history hasn’t been kind to Cal Poly when stepping up in class. The Mustangs haven’t toppled an FBS opponent since slipping past Wyoming 24-22 back in 2012—a drought that looms large heading into Salt Lake City.

Here's what you need to know to watch the Utah Utes host the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday, including start time and TV channel.
