The USC Trojans won in convincing fashion last week, decimating the Missouri State Bears 73-13. Now Lincoln Riley's program will host a familiar face, former USC coach Clay Helton and his Georgia Southern Eagles, on Saturday evening.
USC opened as 28.5-point favorites — -8000 on the moneyline — so it's safe to say that oddsmakers like the Trojans to improve to 2-0. USC quarterback Jayden Maiava looked crisp in his season-opening performance, completing 15 of 19 passes for 295 and two touchdowns and also logging one rushing TD.
A total of nine different Trojans scored touchdowns during the onslaught, which saw USC finish with 10 TDs on the day. The program had not racked up that many points since a 74-0 victory over California 95 years ago.
This is a brand-new week, though, and Riley and his squad will not take Georgia Southern lightly. Can the Trojans dominate for a second consecutive week and crack the next batch of the AP's Top 25?
