The lights will shine bright at Jones AT&T Stadium on Saturday evening, when Texas Tech kicks off the 2025 season with a primetime clash against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions.

The visitors limp in from a tough 3-9 campaign capped by a 31-23 stumble against Texas Southern. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders are looking to wash away the bitter taste of their 39-26 Liberty Bowl loss to Arkansas, which came on the heels of back-to-back 50-point explosions to close the regular season.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff may be full of question marks, but the ground game is not one of them. The Golden Lions return their top two workhorses in BJ Curry (509 yards, 4 TDs) and Za’Marrion Webber (334 yards), though they’ll have their hands full against a stout Texas Tech interior anchored by Lee Hunter, Skyler Gill-Howard, and A.J. Holmes — three big men who relish making opposing linemen’s nights miserable.

On the other side of the ball, all eyes will be on the Red Raiders’ front five. Cody Campbell vowed to beef up the offensive line, and while time will tell if it’s better, it’s hard to argue with the sheer size of the group.
