No. 24 Tennessee opens its season against Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Volunteers will start a new quarterback under center in Joey Aguilar after Nico Iamaleava transferred to UCLA. Aguilar passed for 3,003 yards, 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last year at Appalachian State.
Syracuse, which finished 10-3 and No. 20 in the final AP Poll in 2024, will start Notre Dame transfer Steve Angeli this season. The Orange also added Texas transfer Johntay Cook at receiver.
This is only the fourth time Tennessee and Syracuse have played in their schools' histories. The Volunteers won the previous three matchups, the last one coming in 2001.
