Rice Stadium will be rocking on Saturday as the Owls welcome Houston for a crosstown showdown on the college football slate.

The Cougars couldn’t have asked for a better opening act. In Week 1, they blanked Stephen F. Austin, cruising to a 27-point shutout that showcased a defense tighter than a drum.

The offense did its part, too, with quarterback Conner Weigman tossing three touchdown passes. While his 15-of-24 line for 159 yards leaves room for polish, the zero interceptions and steady hand kept Houston firmly in the driver’s seat.

Rice, meanwhile, had to grind out its victory the hard way. The Owls found all 14 of their points in the second quarter against Louisiana, then leaned on a stingy defense to hang on for a nail-biting 14-12 win.

Chase Jenkins did just enough under center, going 7-of-9 for 45 yards, while the ground game carried the load. Quinton Jackson rumbled for 119 yards and a score on 22 carries, and Daelen Alexander added another 74 yards on 15 attempts.

Here's what you need to know to watch the Rice Owls host the Houston Cougars on Saturday, including start time and TV channel.
