The stage is set in Corvallis as the California Golden Bears and Oregon State Beavers kick off their 2025 campaigns with a non-conference showdown at Reser Stadium on Saturday.

It’s Cal’s first trip back to Oregon State’s turf in three years, and the last time the Bears made the trek, they left with a lopsided 38-10 loss in Pac-12 play.

This time around, however, a brand-new look Golden Bears squad takes the field. Cal is rolling out a staggering 55 fresh faces — 27 on offense, 22 on defense, and six on special teams — highlighted by true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, only the second rookie starter under center for the Bears since Jared Goff debuted in 2013.

Both sides have a knack for fast starts. Cal enters riding a three-game win streak in season openers, while Oregon State has matched that mark with three straight opening-day victories of its own, including four in a row at home.

With two proud programs looking to set the tone for the months ahead, expect Saturday’s clash to be anything but a quiet start to the season.
