Oklahoma heads into its bye week in tremendous shape, coming off a big win over Auburn in Week 4. The seventh-ranked Sooners now sit 4-0, an early-season stretch that included a massive 24-13 win over Michigan in Week 2.
Having outscored its opponents 125-36, Oklahoma has a legitimate chance at making a run at its eighth National Championship. It will need a productive bye week, though, as the remainder of the Sooners' schedule is going to be a doozy.
Brent Venables' squad will host Kent State on Oct. 4. After that, it will face ranked teams in six of its last seven games of the regular season, including Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama and LSU.
Needless to say, the next two months will dictate whether Oklahoma is a true National Championship contender or a pretender. So, this bye week will be crucial to get the Sooners ready to continue rocking their opponents.
