The Wolverines defeated New Mexico 34-17, but they fell one spot in the AP Top 25 rankings. Michigan got off to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and extended it to 17-0 before the Lobos scored. Justice Haynes shined with 159 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries.
The Sooners had an even more convincing win, defeating Illinois State 35-3 at home. John Mateer was 30-for-37 with 392 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He connected with Keontez Lewis for 119 yards and two touchdowns on nine receptions.
