On the heels of a triumphant national title, Ohio State is poised to contend for another championship in the upcoming season.

Ryan Day's squad ripped through the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff last season, blitzing all four opponents by double-digit margins.

Now the Buckeyes enter the new season with similarly high expectations; they earned the No. 2 spot in the coaches' preseason top 25 poll, garnering 20 first-place votes.

There's talent up and down Ohio State's roster. Standout receiver Jeremiah Smith is primed to build off an electric freshman campaign and could be a Heisman Trophy contender. Safety Caleb Downs, one of the best defenders in college football, came on strong in his first year in Columbus.

Still, there are question marks: Last year's starting quarterback, Will Howard, is in the NFL. Julian Sayin is the favorite to replace Howard, but there's still a competition between Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz for the starting job. On defense, former Lions coach Matt Patricia replaces Jim Knowles as defensive coordinator.

The Sporting News has everything that you need to know about listening to Ohio State football on the radio this season.
