Notre Dame fell one win shy of a championship last season. Now the Fighting Irish begin anew in their quest for the program's first national title since 1988.

They enter the 2025 season — the fifth year at the helm for coach Marcus Freeman — with high expectations, anticipating another berth in the College Football Playoff.

For the fifth straight season, the Irish will be breaking in a new quarterback, with last year's starter Riley Leonard currently playing for the Indianapolis Colts. And there's a legitimate quarterback competition unfolding in South Bend. Redshirt freshman CJ Carr, a four-star recruit in the 2024 class, may be the favorite. But don't overlook redshirt sophomore Kenny Minchey, a four-star recruit himself in the 2023 recruiting class.

The winner won't have any time to ease into the season: Notre Dame begins the year with a road game at Miami, a top-10 outfit, followed by a home date with another top-25 team in Texas A&M. But having a dynamic backfield with Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price should help with any growing pains; not to mention, a stout defense returns a number of key starters.

The Sporting News has everything that you need to know about listening to Notre Dame football on the radio in the 2025 season.
