Norfolk State dropped the first game of Michael Vick's tenure, falling 27-7 to Towson on Thursday night.

Vick's presence on the sidelines might have put people in the stands at William "Dick" Price Stadium, but there is still plenty of work to be done within the hashmarks for the Spartans, who fell victim to a lively Tigers attack.

QB Andrew Indorf was the standout, collecting a trio of scores. None was more impressive than his second, magic trick of a play that saw the freshman evade pressure before lifting a 36-yard feather to Zay Perkins.

Vick's side had its moments. Norfolk State kept Towson fairly quiet during the second and third quarters and even pulled the game within a score after Jaylen Laudermilk found pay dirt from eight yards out.

But there weren't enough arrows in the Spartans' quiver. They suffered half a dozen three-and-outs, proving unable to best the Tigers' front seven.

Vick could enjoy a glistening tenure at Norfolk State, but it will take some time. Thursday's result and performance made that notion abundantly clear.

The Sporting News tracked live updates from Vick's coaching debut. Below are highlights, analysis, and more from Norfolk State's clash with Towson.

Norfolk State vs. Towson live updates, highlights from Michael Vick's coaching debut

(All times Eastern)

End of fourth quarter: Towson 27, Norfolk State 7

10:10 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! That should put it away for the Tigers! Indorf finds pay dirt once more, this time via a lofted pass to John Dunmore.

Towson 27, Norfolk State 7

9:55 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Towson fires back, with Indorf finding Zay Perkins for a 36-yard touchdown on third-and-20! That's a backbreaker for Vick's side, which has looked much improved in recent defensive drives.

Towson 20, Norfolk State 7

9:45 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! The Spartans are on the board! After failing to find the end zone in any of their first seven drives, Norfolk State gets in courtesy of an eight-yard scamper from Jaylen Laudermilk.

Towson 13, Norfolk State 7

End of third quarter: Towson 13, Norfolk State 0

9:10 p.m.: Norfolk State has quietly firmed up its defense in the past two frames. The Spartans just coaxed the Tigers into a punt. They'll look to cut into Towson's advantage on the other end of the field.

9:04 p.m.: Indorf wiggled out of danger to turn third-and-15 into a manageable fourth-and-short. The Tigers proceeded to convert on fourth, moving into Spartans territory in the process. Norfolk State desperately needs a stop here.

End of second quarter: Towson 13, Norfolk State 0

8:30 p.m.: BLOCKED FIELD GOAL! When it rains, it pours. Norfolk State saw a touchdown evaporate after an offensive holding call. Its subsequent field goal attempt spurned the uprights, deflected away by a sea of Tigers limbs.

8:20 p.m.: Two-minute drill going swimmingly thus far for Norfolk State, with Otto Kuhns authoring up a lengthy 11-play, 62-yard drive to put the Spartans on the cusp of the end zone. Can they punch it in?

7:56 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Towson keeps the good times rolling with a 50-yard field goal early in the second quarter.

Towson 13, Norfolk State 0

End of first quarter: Towson 10, Norfolk State 0

7:40 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Towson tacks on three to its advantage. Norfolk State has to feel good after denying the Tigers on the doorstep of the end zone.

Towson 10, Norfolk State 0

7:34 p.m.: Meanwhile, Towson keeps on chugging along. The Tigers just moved the chains on fourth-and-short to put themselves in a goal-to-go situation.

7:30 p.m.: The Spartans have struggled to do much of anything thus far. They amounted eight yards of total offense in their first two possessions. Plenty of time left for them to produce. But things aren't loking great at the moment.

7:15 p.m.: Towson strikes first courtesy of a 33-yard strike from Andrew Indorf to Jaceon Doss.

Towson 7, Norfolk State 0

7:05 p.m.: And here we go! The ball is kicked off! The Michael Vick Era begins in Norfolk State!
