The Penn State Nittany Lions lost another game against a top 10 opponent in overtime against the Oregon Ducks by a final score of 30-24. Once again, head coach James Franklin does not come up big in a big spot.
Another reason why the Nittany Lions lost in a big spot was because of quarterback Drew Allar. He threw an interception to end the game against the Ducks and also threw a bad interception against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the playoffs last season. There is no doubt a lot of blame to go around with this program.
Penn State Nittany Lions Fans Want James Franklin Fired
To no surprise, there are a lot of fans who are fed up with Franklin not winning another big game for this football program. There was a ton of Twitter outrage after the loss:
At what point do you fire James Franklin for being good but not good enough? Is he just an example of how to perpetually keep your job but never win at the highest level?

Penn State head coach James Franklin has a 15-28 record against ranked opponents. At what point do they say he can’t win big games and fire him?

No, James Franklin didn’t prepare them enough. Fire Franklin.

He has been the head coach for Penn State since the 2014 season. The Nittany Lions were ranked third before the game and the Ducks were ranked sixth. In the latest rankings, Oregon jumped to number two and Penn State dropped to number seven.
This will not be the last time this season that Franklin will be coaching in a big game. They will have to face the number one ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on the road, and they will also have to play the eighth ranked Indiana Hoosiers later this season.
If Penn State were to lose to Ohio State and Indiana, there is a very good chance that they miss the playoffs. If they were to miss the playoffs, would the Nittany Lions move on from Franklin as head coach? The rest of the season is something to watch out for with this football program.
