Week 1 of the college football season brings a Tennessee showdown as the Chattanooga Mocs travel to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to square off with the Memphis Tigers on Saturday.

Memphis enters the new campaign on the heels of an 11-2 year, including a 6-2 run through the American Athletic Conference. The Tigers packed plenty of punch offensively in 2024, averaging 35.7 points per contest while racking up over 270 yards through the air and 174 on the ground.

Defensively, they proved stout against the run, limiting opponents to just 111.8 rushing yards per game, but were more vulnerable against the pass, giving up 257.5 yards on average.

Chattanooga, meanwhile, put together a respectable 7-5 finish last fall, including a 5-3 mark in the Southern Conference. The Mocs posted 25 points per outing, leaning on a balanced attack that produced 218.7 yards passing and 127.5 rushing per game.

On defense, they held their own by allowing just 22.2 points, though opponents found more success pounding the ball on the ground with an average of 152.4 rushing yards per contest.
