Vanderbilt had maybe one of the most impressive victories of the entire season on Saturday, marching into South Carolina's home stadium and dominating as an unranked opponent against the number 11 team in the country. Both unbeaten, Vandy jumped into the Top 25 with a stellar win.
It got the attention of Kirk Herbstreit, who said that he didn't view this as a one-off upset. Instead, he believes the Commodores deserve more praise. "I think there's more to Vandy than just Diego Pavia," he said. He believes Vanderbilt has long been a pushover that some fans believe should've left the SEC, but now, they're "another team that's p****d off at the world."
"How dare you question us? How dare you slight us? They didn't sneak up, they just went in there with a rubber hose and just beat up on South Carolina in their stadium," Herbstreit said. "That was one of the more interesting games, I thought, of the whole weekend."
Vanderbilt went from unranked to the number 20 team in the nation, someone who might have an outside shot at the playoff. South Carolina plummeted out of the top 25, but there are 11 SEC teams in the top 25. It might seem shocking, but Vanderbilt is actually one of them.
