The Houston Cougars will welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to TDECU Stadium in Texas on Friday for an exciting Big 12 conference matchup.

Houston coach Willy Fritz's Cougars have begun the season 2-0, led by quarterback Conner Weigman, who is settling in quickly in Texas. After shutting out Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in the 27-0 season opener victory, they registered a massive 35-9 over rivals Rice Owls last weekend.

The Cougars face the Buffaloes for the first time since the 1971 season. Colorado prevailed during that matchup in Texas with a 29-17 win over Houston.

Colorado are sitting at 1-1 and bounced back with a 31-7 win over Delaware after a breakout performance from quarterback Ryan Staub. The Redshirt freshman entered in the second quarter to complete 7 of 10 passes for 157 yards and threw two touchdowns, for a team struggling on offense.

The Buffaloes went 9-4 last fall, but things are different without Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter. Coach Deion Sanders brought in Kaidon Salter and Juju Lewis as Shedeur's replacement at QB, but after Staub's impressive showdown against Delaware, he could get the nod.
