Georgia kicked off the season with a 45-7 stomping of Marshall, light work for the No. 4-ranked team in the nation. Now the Bulldogs turn their attention to a home game vs. Austin Peay this Saturday, which will not be as much of a walk in the park.
Sure, the Bulldogs had some explosive plays last week, and quarterback Gunner Stockton looked as lethal a two-way threat as Kirby Smart likely hoped he would be in his junior season debut. But Austin Peay looked mighty good in its 20-point win over Middle Tennessee last weekend. This week's contest could be a game, folks.
Georgia will look to receiver Zachariah Branch and the other new transfers to stay hot. Branch, who came over from USC in the offseason, had 95 yards and a TD in last weekend's win over Marshall. Running backs Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens looked pretty good, too, combining for 80 ground yards and 17 total runs.
The Governors would love to preserve momentum and smack a high-ranked SEC team in the mouth. Austin Peay looked good on offense last week, but it looked darn near great on defense. Middle Tennessee managed just 153 total yards (2.6 per play), and the Blue Raiders went 0-for-12 on third down. Jeff Faris' squad held a 39-21 advantage in the time of possession battle.
