Florida's inconsistency spells trouble for any hopes of a redeeming season.
The Gators' season has been up and down, highlighted by a triumphant upset win over Texas in Week 4, but underlined by losses to LSU, Miami and Texas A&M. Last week, Florida narrowly defeated Mississippi State 23-21, with defensive tackle Michai Boireau securing a clutch interception with 21 seconds left on the clock.
Though Florida's schedule is one of the more difficult in the NCAA, the program hasn't been able to prove that it can hang with the big dogs. With the firing of head coach Billy Napier and a number of major matchups still left, a bye week is coming at the perfect time for the Gators.
