After six years of training camps with five different teams, wide receiver Cody White is getting his chance at the NFL. The 26-year-old has been cut eight times, but finally earned a spot on the Seattle Seahawks’ 53-man roster Tuesday.
White shared the news in an emotional social media post.

White was a three-time letter-winner at Michigan State and started 26 of 35 career games. He recorded the seventh-most total receptions (143) and receptions per game (4.1), the 12th-most receiving yards (1,967) and tied for 16th-most touchdown catches (12) in Spartan football history. Over three seasons, White compiled 2,115 all-purpose yards (85 on punt returns, 63 on rushing).
The wide receiver declared for the 2020 NFL Draft following his junior season, but went unselected despite his successes with the Spartans. White has spent time in Kansas City, San Francisco, Denver and Pittsburgh over the last six years, and signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad during the 2023 season.
He’s slowly been making a name for himself in Seattle.
White began last season on the Seahawks’ practice squad before making his league debut in Seattle’s Week 9 loss to the Rams, 26-20. He recorded two catches for 44 yards and blocked a punt in the contest.

The receiver isn’t new to the Seahawks’ organization, but this promotion is the biggest opportunity in White's career to date. White is the second former Spartan with a unique story joining the NFL this season.
