Oregon Wins Big on Saturday
It is a large spread, but one that the Oregon Ducks has shown the ability to cover without any issues at least to start the season. They are 2-0, with two cupcake games to start the year, but the key here is that they have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 128-16. So, not only are they winning, but they are doing exactly what they are supposed to do when playing an inferior opponent, which is to win handedly.
Led by new starting QB Dante Moore, the Oregon offense has averaged a whopping 10.2 yards per play and a running back room that has averaged 8.4 yards per carry. Now, they get a matchup against a Northwestern defense that has allowed Tulane to run for 269 rushing yards against them in Week 1, and rank 122nd in EPA per rush.
One thing we know about NCAAF is that an advantage on the ground is hard to overcome, which is exactly the case in this one. On the other side of the ball, if Oregon does what they are supposed to do and gets out to a big lead, the Northwestern offense just does not have the firepower to keep up in any way. So, trust Oregon to win with ease in this one.
Expect Points in Arkansas/Ole Miss
Overall, Arkansas is expected to appear in a ton of shootouts this season. They are playing at a fast pace under OC Bobby Petrino and have a ton of weapons to work with thanks to the transfer portal. They added WR O'Mega Blake and RB Mike Washington Jr, who have both made highlight reel plays through two games of the year. Most importantly, however, is that QB Taylen Green has looked good, allowing Arkansas to create a bunch of explosive plays.
They are a top 10 offense in terms of explosive plays, while playing an Ole Miss team that has really been struggling defensively to start the year. In their defense, they did lose a lot of talent from the 2024 roster, especially at defensive line, but they have not looked good to start the season.
Ole Miss has not been able to generate any sort of pass rush, so Arkansas should continue to be able to produce a ton of explosive plays. Unfortunately for Arkansas, they also have a defense that has been struggling, and the Ole Miss offense also loves to push the pace.

Florida Atlantic Gets the Upset
Florida Atlantic has won seven straight games in this rivalry but somehow find themselves underdogs in this one. It does make some sense as the away team, but they should be able to get the win on Saturday and continue their streak.
An argument for a minor upset all comes on the backs of Florida Atlantic QB Kaden Veltkamp, who struggled in Week 1 against Maryland, but broke out last week to the tune of 309 yards and 5 TDs against Florida A&M. As long as he has time, he should be able to pick apart the Florida International defense. Overall, Florida Atlantic has shown signs of life in the passing game, and it is unlikely that Florida International is going to be able to match that.
Overall, the Florida Atlantic offense does not do much to test the defense deep, relying on a lot of short throws to get themselves to manageable third downs. Unfortunately for FIU, however, is that the Florida Atlantic defense thrives in this type of environment. They have held their opponents to only a 30% conversion rate on third down.
