A Big 12 showdown highlights a five-game slate of college football Friday night.

West Virginia heads across the country to take on No. 23 BYU in Provo, Utah, with the Cougars vying to stay unbeaten. Freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier is coming off a near-perfect two-touchdown performance against Colorado.

Elsewhere, South Florida begins conference play against Charlotte. The Bulls secured a pair of signature non-conference wins, defeating Boise State and Florida and cementing themselves as legitimate contenders in the American.

There's also plenty of Mountain West action Friday with conference play beginning for the likes of New Mexico and Colorado State, each sporting 3-1 records.
