During the Arizona-Arizona State game on Friday night, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark used his FOX interview to promote his conference and criticize Notre Dame's College Football Playoff standing.

Yormark stated that with Texas Tech at No. 5, BYU at No. 11, and Utah at No. 13 all remaining in contention for the CFP, the Big 12 merits several invitations to the 12-team Playoff, proposing that BYU's accomplishments are more impressive than Notre Dame's.

“I think BYU has been underappreciated all season long,” Yormark said. “When you compare them to a Notre Dame, there is no comparison when you think about strength of record, strength of schedule and win-loss.”

Currently ranked ninth in the latest CFP standings, the Fighting Irish (9-2) don't have a conference championship game due to their Independent status, a point Yormark highlighted as BYU gears up for a potential Big 12 Championship appearance. The Cougars will secure a spot if they defeat UCF this Saturday.

Yormark added he feels “really good” about Texas Tech’s Playoff standing and believes Utah also deserves strong consideration.

As Selection Sunday draws nearer, the Big 12 aims to showcase its strength against established programs such as Notre Dame.
