Arizona looks poised to keep pounding the rock when Weber State comes to town on Saturday.

In the season opener against Hawai’i, running back Jonah Coleman Reescano wasted no time setting the tone. He carried the ball 10 times for 51 yards and a touchdown, including a three-carry sequence on the Wildcats’ opening drive that ended with a 7-0 lead. Two of his rushes went for double-digit yardage, showcasing his burst out of the backfield.

Speedster Rayshon Mahdi didn’t check in until the third quarter, but he made the most of his opportunities. He logged six carries for 23 yards and a touchdown, while also hauling in a 10-yard reception. Mahdi played closer in the fourth quarter, pounding out four carries for 23 yards and punching in the late score that sealed the victory.

Weber State’s run defense, meanwhile, had its hands full last week against James Madison. George Pettaway gashed the Wildcats with 10 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown, ripping off runs of 16, 20, and 35 yards. The Dukes racked up 10 plays on the ground of at least 10 yards, leaning on their rushing attack to overwhelm Weber State.

Wayne Knight piled on with seven carries for 89 yards, highlighted by a 59-yard dash to the house on the first snap of the fourth quarter that stretched the lead to 31-10. He added another 17-yard burst, while four more Dukes topped the 30-yard mark on the ground, and two others joined the scoring parade.
