For the first time in a long time, Alabama is coming into a season fraught with (relative) uncertainty.
The Crimson Tide's QB situation has been murky after the departure of Bryce Young, and losses to LSU and Tennessee kept Alabama out of what would have been its third straight playoff.
Alabama doesn't need a chip on its shoulder -- it makes its own -- but this one might be earned. The competition among Jalen Milroe, Tyler Bucnher, and Ty Simpson has dragged on all offseason, leaving some pundits to wonder if the SEC is undergoing a full power shift to Georgia.
This may be where the Crimson Tide does its best work, but that doesn't make the pill any harder to swallow.
