Oklahoma’s offensive line future grew on Thursday morning as Bixby (Okla.) standout Kaeden Penny announced he'll stay home by committing to the Sooners.
The four-star ESPN 300 offensive tackle is the No. 2 overall prospect in Oklahoma and chose OU over LSU and Ohio State, adding to a sizzling day on the recruiting trail for Bill Bedenbaugh and Brent Venables.
Penny’s pledge came after Oklahoma flipped five-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett, the state’s No. 1 prospect, from Texas Tech. The Sooners now hold commitments from the top two players in Oklahoma, both anchoring the offensive line class of 2027. Penny joins Hackett, Top100 athlete Demare Dezeurn, and offensive tackle Luke Wilson in OU’s growing haul.
At 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, Penny has long been regarded as one of the most dominant trench players in the state. A two-way standout for powerhouse Bixby, he’s been instrumental in multiple 6A-I state championship runs with versatility at left tackle and defensive line. He recorded 18 tackles, two sacks, and seven quarterback hurries while protecting his quarterback on the other side of the ball. Rivals ranks him as the No. 7 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 34 overall prospect.
Penny has been a top target for years, pulling offers from several top-tier programs. His head coach Loren Montgomery has called him “one of the most talented offensive linemen I’ve ever worked with in 26 years of coaching.”
With Penny in the fold, Oklahoma rockets to No. 2 in the Rivals Industry Recruiting Rankings, solidifying Bedenbaugh’s reputation as one of the nation’s top offensive line recruiters.
