Michigan star running back Justice Haynes will undergo foot surgery, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.
Haynes’ recovery timeline remains uncertain, though there’s optimism from Michigan's staff he could return later this season. The Alabama transfer missed Saturday’s 21-16 win over Purdue after appearing to injure his foot late in Michigan’s victory over Michigan State the week prior.
Before exiting that game, Haynes had 26 carries for 152 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-20 win. His sixth 100-yard game of the year.

Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore was non-committal about Haynes status leading up to Purdue, saying he was “banged up.”
Haynes leads the Big Ten in rushing this season, averaging 122.4 yards per game with 857 total yards and 10 touchdowns on 7.1 yards per carry. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound back had previously missed time earlier in the year with a rib injury.
In Haynes’ absence, Jordan Marshall has taken on a larger role, including a 110-yard outing and a 56-yard touchdown against Michigan State.
Michigan is in the midst of a bye week before facing Northwestern on Nov. 15.
