The Indiana Hoosiers took their program to new heights this past Saturday with a 13-10 win in the Big Ten Championship against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Although Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti had every reason to celebrate, he is already moving forward to what's next come postseason play.
"It's been a little bit surreal, but it's all made sense when you watch the tape," Cignetti said. "We've had a lot of great leaders join this program, guys that can play football. Got a lot of great coaches that have been with me a long time. It's been a lot of fun, I don't look like I'm having fun, but I'm going to have fun when I get in that coaches room."
Cignetti said that while the hype around the Hoosiers is fun and a lot that goes into it, both in and outside of football, it could all end in the blink of an eye.
"I got my ways to kind of bring ‘em back down to Earth, but we’re going to play good people," Cignetti said. "When you play good people, you got to play really, really good to be successful."
So far, the Hoosiers have done just that as it enters the postseason at 13-0.
"It only counts if you finish there," Cignetti said about the end-all goal being a national title.
For now, Indiana has a chance to rest before the postseason gets going. If it were to keep winning, history would be writing a brand-new script, ushering in an unprecedented era in the football program's history.
Should the Hoosiers pull it out, Cignetti's words will become eventual bulletin-board material if they aren't already.
