The beginning of the College Football season means new faces at quarterback, and that includes a new signal-caller for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Last year's SEC champions once again enter the season as a top-five team, but they have a new quarterback after Carson Beck transferred to Miami. Beck started each of the past two seasons for Georgia, helping the team produce 24 wins in that span.

Instead, the Bulldogs will turn to Gunner Stockton to be their starting quarterback in 2025. Stockton has been with the team since he left high school, but he didn't have much playing time until the end of last season when Beck suffered an elbow injury.

Who is Gunner Stockton?

Gunner Stockton is a redshirt junior entering his third season with Georgia. Stockton joined Georgia in 2022, but he didn't play at all during the season to redshirt before becoming the backup quarterback the following season.

In 2023 and 2024, Stockton served as Carson Beck's backup, playing in nine games over the two seasons. He relieved Beck in the SEC championship game vs. Texas when Beck suffered an injury, leading Georgia to an overtime win. He then started against Notre Dame in the Bulldogs' CFP quarterfinals loss.

Stockton was born and raised in Tiger, Ga., and he played high school football at Rabun Country High School. He was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022, according to 247 Sports, and also received offers from Alabama and Arkansas, among other schools.

However, Stockton said that Georgia was always his top school.

“It's always been a dream of mine to play at Georgia," Stockton said at SEC media day. "When I committed, I envisioned myself playing and being at Georgia, and I didn’t want to go anywhere else."
