Colorado quarterback Kaidon Salter isn’t backing down from criticism after the Buffaloes’ latest setback.
The transfer from Liberty started strong Saturday night, helping Colorado build a 14-0 lead over No. 25 BYU. But the momentum didn’t last. Salter finished 11-for-16 with 119 yards, two touchdowns and a late interception as the Cougars rallied for a 24-21 win at Folsom Field.
In his postgame remarks, Salter admitted he pressed too often. “We just have to be more disciplined,” he said. “I gotta take what they give me and take the easy throws, just keep working on the scramble drill when plays break down.”
Salter added that BYU’s defensive adjustments made life more difficult after the opening quarter. “They started QB-spying me after that first quarter. Overall, they just made some good adjustments. We gotta adjust when they adjust.”
But the conversation didn’t end at the podium. Salter responded to a few social media comments following the game, where frustration from Colorado fans was on full display. Rather than ignoring the noise, he responded to some critics directly.
"Leave please dawg we don't want you here no more," one fan wrote. Salter replied by saying, "twin you dye wigs for a living."
"If you keep focusing in school you might be a great plumber." Salter wrote "What r u?" in reply. The comments on the Instagram post have since been disabled.
Salter’s decision to engage drew mixed reactions. Some praised his accountability, while others questioned whether the quarterback should focus solely on the field.
I’ll be damned if my QB responding like this after a loss… https://t.co/84j5Y0peHT

Deion Sanders and the Buffs face another key decision as pressure mounts. Salter has shown flashes of being the steady leader Colorado needs, but his inconsistency has opened the door for speculation about freshman five-star quarterback Julian Lewis.
Sanders has not hinted if a change is coming, but with the season nearing its midpoint, the scrutiny is intensifying. For Salter, the challenge now is proving that his words can translate into growth.
Colorado (2-3) travels to TCU on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET, FOX).
