Boulder went quiet when Jordan Seaton walked off the field Saturday night. The sophomore tackle, Colorado’s most reliable protector, exited the Buffaloes’ 37-20 win over Wyoming with a hamstring injury. By the second half, he was on the sidelines in street clothes.
Deion Sanders did his best to calm fears postgame. “Seaton’s cool, they’re good,” the head coach said, noting that none of the injured players should miss “more than a couple of weeks.”
The loss is significant. Seaton leads the nation in pass-blocking grade through four weeks, per Pro Football Focus. He’s yet to give up a sack and has allowed only one quarterback hurry.
Colorado has already given up 2.5 sacks per game. Without Seaton, keeping Kaidon Slater upright against No. 25 BYU on Saturday gets tougher.
Seaton’s injury also impacts the run game. The Buffs average 141.5 rushing yards per contest, and his blocking has been central to that output.
The former five-star recruit made history last season as the first true freshman tackle to start at Colorado. Losing him, even short term, would test the depth of a line still trying to prove itself.
Colorado needs Seaton healthy. Their Big 12 opener against BYU is no place to be shorthanded.
