Shedeur Sanders may not have gotten many opportunities during training camp, and some opinions haven’t painted him in the best light. Despite this, he has made a significant impact in Cleveland for his off-the-field contributions.
“I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never seen what Shedeur Sanders is doing this early on in a player’s career,” Cecil Shorts said on Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan. “I’ve never seen that before, I’ve never seen a rookie come into the league and before he even played a snap is already in the Garden Valley Projects … All the things he’s doing (in the community). It’s a special thing he’s doing, that’s not normal.”
While Sanders is excelling off the field, some remain unconvinced of his potential on it.
“If he wasn’t named Shedeur Sanders and if he took 5 sacks in 11 drop backs as a fifth round draft pick, who is number four on the depth chart, do you know where he’d be?” Jim Rome said. “Pretty much out on his a.”**
There hasn’t been much leeway given to Sanders, but he remains level-headed. During ESPN Cleveland’s broadcast, Mike Rizzo went on a passionate rant, saying the Browns should just cut Sanders if they aren’t going to play him.
“Somebody in that building does not think Shedeur is doing what he should be doing.... but if you're not going to give Shedeur a chance, let him go,” said Rizzo.

Sanders is a special talent and could easily rank higher on the depth chart. There are feelings that Sanders may be getting sabotaged, and perhaps eventually the Browns will realize that letting him go might be the best option.
For now, it doesn’t appear the Browns are ready to give Sanders a real chance. Cleveland seems poised to continue making questionable moves regarding him. Even looking ahead to next year, it appears the Browns may draft another quarterback, which raises questions about whether Sanders is truly in Cleveland’s future plans.
