Colorado will be without wide receiver Omarion Miller on Saturday when the Buffaloes host Delaware, according to Sporting News’ Jason Jones.

Miller suffered a hamstring injury in the season-opening loss to Georgia Tech, limiting him to just one reception. That lone catch was a 39-yard burst that stood out as one of Colorado’s few explosive plays in Week 1.

Miller entered the year as one of Colorado’s most highly anticipated breakout candidates. With the departures of Travis Hunter, LaJohntay Wester, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Will Sheppard, the third-year receiver was expected to step into a leading role in the passing game. His size, speed, and ability to stretch the field make him a natural fit as a top target for quarterbacks Kaidon Salter and freshman Julian Lewis.

The unfortunate thing is hamstring injuries can linger, and head coach Deion Sanders and his staff appear committed to giving Miller the proper recovery time. The Buffaloes have their sights set on contending in the Big 12, and having Miller healthy later in the year will be critical.

Colorado has enough depth at receiver to manage, but Miller’s absence shows the importance of his long-term availability. Another week of rest before traveling to Houston for the Big 12 opener.
